Newsweek's Howard Fineman Discovers Brian Schweitzer & Jon Tester
'Nuff said.
Kos & Co. think that person will come from, or at least feel a kinship to, rural America. It fits with their neo-Jeffersonian view of things—and their disdain for the soft-money me-tooism they see stifling the party in Washington. ...But perhaps the netroots’ favorite avatar in waiting is Gov. Brian Schweitzer of Montana. In their eyes he’s the rootin’-tootin’ real deal, a rancher turned politician who believes in government activism set free from traditional liberal thinking and interest-group methods. This week a protégé of Schweitzer’s, a rancher named Jon Tester, won the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. Kos happily noted that Tester comes from “the middle of nowhere”—Big Sandy, Mont.—and provided a link to a Yahoo map to prove it.
So that’s the place to start from in this new political era: not Washington, but the middle of nowhere.

I certainly hope that this race will serve to educate the nationwide press to the fact that there is indeed a difference between a farmer and a rancher, and Senator Tester is, indeed, a "Montana Farmer."
GO TESTER GO.

If Kos and his ultra liberal buddies actually knew Schweitzer, then they'd be shocked to learn he's a favorite of the Democratic Leadership Council, he's as conservative as my Democratic Governor Dave Freudenthal, and he doesn't support some ultra-lefty agenda, or he wouldn't have been elected.

Actually, WyoBlueDog, if you pay attention to what Kos and others say, they do know that perfectly well. They like him not because they think he's some left-wing guy that he's not, but because he's a Democrat who can win in a state like MT and bring the party along with him (the legislature, the Senate race).

Is it just me, or is it time for WyoBlueDog to get his own blog? Not that I don't enjoy his comments here, I really do, but I would very much enjoy reading what he had to say on a regular basis, not just reacting to what we write.

Wow thanks Emmett, I think. I just try to bring a down-to-earth, western perspective to our Democratic party in hopes that they don't get too out of the loop, and stay focused on appealing to us gun likin', Imus-listenin', wildlife viewin', pick-up drivin', church goin', flag wavin', steak eatin' Americans. BTW, I'm not necessarily all of the above, but I'm most of them.
Perhaps I'll look into a blog.

Wow, when I was reading through the list, I was thinking "Hell, I'm most of those, and I live in Olympia..."
For the record, I'm: gun likin', wildlife viewin', pick-up drivin', church goin', flag wavin', steak eatin'
The only one I don't is Imus listening, probably because we don't get Imus here (I think).. and I probably have to take a half or three quarters on the gun likin'
Anyway, if you want some help setting up your blog, let me know.

Admittedly, I'm not pick-up drivin'. Sorry. And I watch Imus on MSNBC, as opposed to listening to him.
Sure, if you'd like to give me an email at jeremiah_ab@hotmail.com, let me know how I can do this blog thing. Thanks.

Horribly, horribly shameless plug. Forgive me:
I now have a blog! So for those of you who like my rants, or for those of you who hate me with all of your might, let me know! And tell your friends and family so they can rant too! See, we Democrats support family values.
