Jack Carter for US Senate?
Nevada, Senators

JackcarterThe Las Vegas Review-Journal is reporting that Jack Carter - the son of the former president - is considering a run for the U.S. Senate against John Ensign (R-NV). Apparently, he's been living in Las Vegas for a couple of years running his international investment firm.

"I'm very seriously exploring it," Carter said in an interview Tuesday. "I had not planned to run for office. I have no infrastructure and this is new to me."

Carter said he decided to run in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He said he was offended by the federal government's response to the disaster.

"I'm more concerned than ever with the way that the country is headed," Carter said.

Over at the Las Vegas Gleaner, they're imagining a winning scenario:

Who could possibly envision a scenario where Carter, who will have lived in Las Vegas for less than four years by election day, could unseat Ensign? Who would dare be so silly? The Gleaner!

Stan Vaughan, who ran the most successful campaign of an Independent for Nevada Assembly 7 back in 2004 has announced that at the invitation of several prominent Democrats he immediately thereafter joined the Democrat party and is running as a Democrat for Assembly 7 in 2006. Vaughan considers himself in the mold of Harry Reid. A pro-life Democrat, he is running for State Assembly 7 in opposition to plans to legalize prostitution in Clark County. The incumbent has accepted campaign contributions from George Flint, President of the Nevada Brothel Owners Association.Vaughan also is opposed to teenage girls being able to obtain abortions without parental consent which the incumbent favored in a Planned Parenthood survey. He also opposes gay marriage, which the incumbent, endorsed by QueerVegas favors. Assembly 7 is a district that is 42% Hispanic and Vaughan hopes his endorsements from that community will help him win in 2006

Jack Carter does not have a snowball chance of unseating Ensign. However, Harry Reid is on his last ride, as the Yucca Mountain project has become a non-issue because none of the states to the east of Nevada want that radioactive junk trucked or railed through their states from the east.
Harry Reid has won because of his fighting against Yucca and nothing else. It's become obvious to many that he is a dim bulb since becoming the minority leader.
If Jack wants a ride to Washington, he needs to get on the team that defeats Harry. Harry will not return!
Bush has done some dumb things, but Nevada has become a Republican state and we will probably not have 2 dems in Washington. Get smart Jack. You can't beat John.

Sure, Jack Carter doesn't have a snowball's chance in unseating the mediocre John Ensign. Sure.

Come back in November when Carter pulls the big upset of the year.

I would guess Susan Nunes (the poster above) is sitting down to a big bowl of crow right about now.
