Larry Grant for Idaho-1
More interesting to me than a lot of what is going in in New Mexico, Colorado and Montana is how the Democratic Party in Idaho is coming back from not even having fielded a candidate for the Senate seat last year. That's almost like giving up on a Governor's race. Not quite that bad, but its pretty bad.
First getting Richard Stallings for state chair was a good move, two folks are stepping into the governor's race, and now we have a tech-industry guy stepping into the Idaho-1 congressional race:
Larry Grant, Fruitland resident and former Vice President and General Counsel of Micron Technology, Inc., announced today that he is considering running for the United States House of Representatives for the 1st Congressional District to work on jobs, education, health care and transportation issues vital to Idaho."...We Democrats have an obligation to do what we can to get this country back on track. At a time when we ought to be focused on jobs, education and health care, some politicians seem to be more interested in calling each other names than solving the problems we face. Right now the United States is running up huge deficits, the economy is sputtering, and there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight in Iraq.”
Former Idaho Congressman Larry LaRocco will act as Chairman of Grant’s exploratory committee.
Now, if anyone can talk a positive message about economy in Idaho, it would be someone from Micron, don't you think?
